Published by Hamaosamaj on March 27, 2010
Less than a week left for Census Day of April 1.
ANA Youth, The Association of Nepali Youth in America (ANYA) has begun the campaign
to educate all the importance of taking part in the Census. We request all local organizations to contact us for promotional video or other training materials.
The 2010 Census is a count of all people residing in the United States, including citizens, immigrants and individuals without immigration status. The U.S. Census Bureau, a federal government agency, administers the national Census every ten years. Every household in America will receive a Census form in March 2010.
1. Information gathered through the Census affects your everyday lives and neighborhoods. Census data determines where the government will build roads, schools and hospitals in your community.
2. Information gathered through the Census affects your political power. It decides how many representatives your district will have in Congress.
3. Information gathered through the Census affects Nepalis in USA. Do you want to know which states have the largest Nepali populations? Or how many Nepali there are in the country? The Census will provide that information.
